Larry Moore, 73, was struck and killed by a truck on November 22, 2010, around 12:27 p.m. in Santa Maria in Santa Barbara County, approximately 250 miles from San Diego. According to the California Highway Patrol, Moore was killed when he was hit while riding his bicycle by a truck driven by John Lee, 45. It is believed that Moore unexpectedly made a turn and turned in front of Lee’s truck.

Lee hit brakes to prevent the collision, but was unable to avoid hitting Moore. According to California Highway Patrol officers, Lee fortunately escaped unhurt in this car accident. It is believed that alcohol or drugs were not factors behind this fatal Santa Barbara County bicycle accident that took one life.

Moore was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Now the investigating officers need to know what made Moore take the unexpected turn. Michael William Nine, 43 of Santa Ana, was killed in a fatal bicycle accident at the intersection of Harbor Ridge Drive and Spyglass Hill Road on July 15, 2010 at around 7:47 a.m.

According to the authorities, Nine was travelling at about 30 mph, heading a group of bicyclists riding towards Spyglass Hill.  At the intersection he lost his control due to an unknown reason and started sliding across the road where he collided head-on with a south bound truck. A bicyclist died on June 23, 2010, when he collided with a motorcyclist on Landstar Boulevard near Pinnacle Cove. According to the Florida Highway Patrol officer, the bicyclist crashed into a 31 year-old motorcyclist, Jean Ronald Ramfort, who was riding a 1999 Honda motorcycle.

The unidentified bicyclist was transported to Florida Hospital Kissimmee, where he was later pronounced dead. The motorcycle driver, Ramfort, was treated at Orlando Regional Medical Center with some minor injuries. Neither the bicyclist nor Ramfort wore safety helmets.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, investigations are still pending. The reasons for the bicycle collision are not clear. It appears the bicyclist lost control and then proceeded to collide with the motorcycle. A 15-year old boy sustained serious injuries on June 17, 2010, when his bicycle chain came off and he crashed into the side of a delivery truck.  Ypsinalti Police said the boy was riding on Michigan Avenue close to Grove Road when the chain came off while going down the hill.

The teen boy was unable to stop his bicycle and ran right into the side of a delivery truck. The teen was immediately taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where he was treated for a forehead laceration. It is not clear whether the boy was wearing a helmet or not.

An unidentified 27-year old sailor died in a car crash at Camp Pendleton on May 25, 2010. The sailor was on his bicycle travelling along Vandergrift Boulevard at about 11:30 p.m. when a Honda Odyssey struck him.  The injured sailor was immediately airlifted to the nearby San Diego Hospital for treatment where he died a few hours later.

The sailor was an active duty personnel of the U.S. Navy stationed at Camp Pendleton. Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the cause of this bike accident. It is possible that the driver of Odyssey was under influence of alcohol or his car has a mechanical failure.

A man was injured in a San Diego bicycle collision that took place on April 14, 2010 before 6 a.m. The accident happened in the 2700 block of Kurtz Street in San Diego.

Reportedly, the bike crash took place between a Ford mini-van and a bicycle. The crash caused the area between Rosecrans Street and Pacific Highway to shut down for a while while police cleared the scene. The case is still under investigation. A female bicyclist collided with a sedan on April 17, 2010 in the UTC area of San Diego, just east of La Jolla and the University of California at San Diego.  The 24-year old woman was cycling on Genesee Avenue at La Jolla Village Drive near Westfield University Towne Centre at 11:50 a.m. when she was hit by a 2004 Infiniti sedan.  The bicyclist suffered major head injuries and was taken to the hospital.  The injuries are said to be not life threatening.  However, whenever one suffers a blow to their head, it is possible that they have suffered a traumatic brain injury and should watch closely.

A 43-year old avid cyclist lost his life in a Baltimore County bicycle accident that occurred on April 6, 2010 around 4:30 p.m. The bike accident occurred on Butler Road in Baltimore County.

The deceased, Lawrence Bensky, was riding on the shoulder of the road when he was hit from behind by a 2001 Toyota Echo being driven by 64-year old Hampstead resident Faith Frenzel. An Mobile, AL man was involved in an Alabama bicycle accident that left a teenage girl severely injured. The accident happened on the night of March 29, 2010.

The accused, Patrick McKinney II, struck a 15-year old girl who was out riding, along with three other kids. The bike accident happened on March Road near Old Pascagoula Road in Grand Bay. McKinney reportedly ran away from the scene after hitting her, but turned himself in the next day. He has been charged with felony hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident, and assault in the first degree. The young girl is being treated at USA Medical Center for a head injury and a broken arm.
